The Aldi Graduate Scheme (Area Manager Programme) is a 12-month, intensely hands-on route into store leadership — not a classroom programme. You start on the shop floor, stacking shelves and learning the “Aldi way” of doing things, before working up to running your own group of stores. Your First Year as an Aldi Graduate
The programme runs in 15 structured phases: Day One starts with meeting your Director and new boss, who set expectations for the year ahead. Weeks 1-2 pair you with an experienced mentor. Weeks 3-13 put you on the shop floor — stacking shelves, learning products, understanding customer service — with a week’s holiday mid-way. By weeks 15-24 you get the keys to a store and take on real responsibilities. Weeks 25-28 are the big test: three weeks running your own £multi-million store solo — ordering over 1,700 products, planning the rota, managing your team — before presenting your results to the Store Operations Director. The remaining weeks mix technical/leadership assessment, regional office training (Accounts, Trading, HR), and a final in-at-the-deep-end stretch covering an Area Manager’s full patch before your year-end review.
