The Google Graduate Scheme isn’t one fixed programme the way Accenture or EY run theirs — Google hires UK graduates on a rolling basis through three main routes: the Associate Product Manager (APM) Program, the STEP internship for first/second-year students, and direct Software Engineer, University Graduate roles. If you’re weighing it against a more traditional scheme, our Amazon Graduate Scheme and Accenture Graduate Scheme pages cover the fixed-cohort model.

How to Apply for Google Graduate Scheme

Google runs candidates through five stages:

  1. Online Application — via careers.google.com: CV, transcript, and for APM a cover letter.
  2. Recruiter Screen / Online Assessment — a short call, or for SWE roles a 60-90 minute coding test.
  3. Technical Phone Screen — a 45-minute coding interview in a shared doc with a Google engineer (SWE track); APM candidates get a case-style product screen instead.
  4. Onsite/Virtual Loop — 2-4 rounds: coding, behavioural, and for APM a product-sense round.
  5. Hiring Committee Review — a separate panel (not your interviewers) makes the final call, which is why Google’s process runs 8-12 weeks even after a strong loop.

Google Programme Structure

There’s no rotation model like Accenture’s four tracks — you’re hired directly into a team and product area from day one, though Google Engineering runs onboarding cohorts (“Noogler” training) in your first weeks. APM hires get structured 1:1 mentorship from senior PMs and typically rotate teams every 18-24 months rather than within a fixed graduate year.

Locations

Google’s UK base is London — currently split across 6 Pancras Square and the new King’s Cross HQ, Platform 37, which will eventually house up to 7,000 staff and is Google’s largest office outside the US. Search results didn’t surface other confirmed UK graduate sites, so assume London unless a specific posting says otherwise.

What Google Graduate Pay Looks Like Next to the Market

At ~£65,000 base, Google’s New Grad SWE pay sits well above Accenture’s £35,190 Consulting/Software Engineering band and Aldi’s Area Manager scheme — see our Accenture Graduate Scheme and Aldi Graduate Scheme pages for the comparison, or run the numbers through the Paycheck Calculator. The gap is bigger once GSU equity vests.

Benefits

Health insurance, an employee assistance programme, enhanced parental leave, flexible/remote working, childcare support, and educational reimbursement — plus GSU (Google Stock Unit) equity as part of total compensation, vesting over 4 years.

Application Deadlines 2026

STEP internship applications typically open September-October for the following summer, closing within 2-3 weeks of opening. APM University Graduate applications for London have historically run a short window in November. There’s no single fixed deadline for direct SWE hires — roles are posted and closed on a rolling basis, often within a week, so set a job alert rather than waiting for an advertised date.
