Jaguar Land Rover Graduate Scheme 2027: Programmes, Pay, Dates and How to Apply

The Jaguar Land Rover graduate scheme is a set of six two-year programmes, and as of 17 October 2026 JLR’s careers site shows its graduate applications as closed. The graduate overview page lists “Applications: January 2027” and a September 2027 start for five programmes, while the individual pathway pages still show opening and closing dates as “TBC” and invite you to register your interest. This guide sets out only what JLR’s own pages state, so you can prepare before the window opens. Often searched as the JLR graduate programme, it sits alongside JLR’s undergraduate placements and apprenticeships, which are separate routes.

Programmes and pathways as JLR lists them

JLR groups its graduate scheme into six programmes, and you can apply for only one pathway, so the choice matters. The pathway names below are copied from each JLR programme page.

• Engineering: Electronics & Complex Systems; Future Propulsion Systems; Hardware & Mechatronics; Software. Each asks for at least a 2:2 in named subjects, for example software engineering, computer science or cyber engineering for Software, and a wider list of engineering, maths and physics degrees for Hardware & Mechatronics.
• Manufacturing Engineering / Procurement: Manufacturing Engineering in the West Midlands (the Special Vehicle Operations paint team for Range Rover SV vehicles), and Procurement through Supplier Technical Assistance. The Procurement pathway asks for an engineering, materials science, manufacturing or other STEM degree and a full driving licence.
• Project Management: Business Excellence; Enterprise Transformation; Information and Digital Technology (IDT); Vehicle Programmes. A 2:2 in any discipline.
• Data Analytics (Cross Functional): Commercial; Engineering; IDT; Data & AI Office (DAIO); Enterprise Quality & Satisfaction; Finance. A 2:2 in any discipline, with a stated preference for a passion for analytics.
• People (HR): one People (HR) pathway, 2:2 in any discipline.
• Creative (Design): one Creative pathway in the Design Vehicle Visualisation team, for degrees such as automotive design, 3D visualisation, animation or game design.

Finance sits inside the Data Analytics programme, and procurement sits with manufacturing. There is no separate supply chain or standalone finance graduate programme on the current page. A 2025 story from Nancy, on JLR’s Commercial Graduate Programme, shows Commercial has run as a graduate route, but it is not listed as its own programme now. In that piece she says graduates can “contribute real value from day one”, which is one person’s account.

When does the Jaguar Land Rover graduate scheme open?

JLR’s graduate overview lists applications for January 2027 on five programmes, with a September 2027 start, but every pathway page still shows opening and closing dates as “TBC”, so no window is confirmed. JLR’s FAQ says applications open and close in stages across January by programme, may close early if oversubscribed, and that you should register your interest and apply early; see our graduate scheme opening dates hub.

Two details to treat with care. The Manufacturing Engineering / Procurement card on the overview page reads “January 2026”, which conflicts with its own September 2027 start and its pathway “TBC” dates, so confirm that one with JLR. JLR’s employability hub also describes a September to March recruitment cycle. To be told first, use the “Register your interest” link at the bottom of any programme page or email [email protected]. Who can apply

According to JLR’s graduate FAQ:

• You need, or expect to achieve, a 2:2 or higher. JLR says it is particularly keen on STEM backgrounds, but a passion for analytics, problem solving and strong numerical skills matter more.
• No prior work experience is required, and you can apply if you graduated some time ago. JLR’s pages also say you must hold or expect a degree in the current academic year, so check your own situation with the recruitment team.
• JLR does not sponsor visas. You need the unrestricted right to work in the UK for an indefinite period, and JLR states that Student or Graduate route visa holders are not eligible.
• You can make only one application per recruitment cycle, although JLR may contact you if another programme suits you better.

Jaguar Land Rover graduate scheme application process

JLR’s pages describe these stages, all online except Creative (Design). Each is taken from the programme pages and the employability hub.

1. Online application. No CV or cover letter. You answer questions on your motivations and experience, including a free-text motivation question. Some programmes need evidence such as a full UK driving licence. Creative (Design) applicants submit a portfolio.
2. Online testing. Short tests taken independently, scored to decide who progresses. JLR says the types vary by programme: a situational judgement test (around 15 to 20 minutes), aptitude tests (verbal, numerical, diagrammatic or error checking) and a personality assessment of around 6.5 minutes. A practice area is hosted by Saville Assessment.
3. Virtual assessment centre. A presentation exercise (a topic given in advance, around four slides and ten minutes of presenting, followed by questions) and a 45-minute motivational and future-focused scenario interview. Creative (Design) instead has an in-person assessment with a portfolio review.
4. Offer. JLR says it shares the outcome within two weeks, makes a verbal offer, then confirms by email.
5. Next steps. Post-offer events and online platforms before you start.

How to prepare

JLR assesses you against its Creators’ Code: customer love, unity, integrity, growth and impact. Build one example of your own for each, and structure answers with the STARRY method JLR recommends (situation, task, action, result, reflection, and “you” meaning your own role). Use the Saville practice tests before the online testing stage and test your technology before the virtual centre.

Jaguar Land Rover graduate scheme salary and benefits

JLR states a salary of £32,000 with a £2,000 joining bonus, rising to £39,000 on completion of the programme, on each graduate programme page. Its FAQ adds that graduates receive a yearly increase, in year one and at the end of the programme, provided performance requirements are met. Benefits JLR lists on its graduate page include the Privilege scheme for discounted car purchase and lease for you and family, a pension scheme, the Rewards Gateway discounts app, hybrid working where the role allows (with significant in-person time for early careers hires), a holiday allowance with a business-wide Christmas shutdown, and wellbeing support. There is no relocation assistance.

On the programme itself, JLR describes 20% protected off-the-job learning time, a year-one curriculum delivered by Ashorne Hill, a week on the manufacturing line, rotational placements, a Graduate Innovation Challenge in year two, and a substantive role on successful completion. JLR’s 30 September 2026 programme overview says completing the requirements leads to a full-time graded position.

Locations

Locations differ by programme on JLR’s pages: Engineering lists West Midlands (multiple sites) and Manchester; Manufacturing Engineering / Procurement lists West Midlands (multiple sites) and Halewood; Project Management lists West Midlands (multiple sites); Data Analytics lists Whitley and Gaydon; People (HR) lists the West Midlands; Creative (Design) lists Gaydon. JLR confirms your likely site at the assessment centre and in your contract, says changing location is usually not possible, and runs a free shuttle bus to Whitley and Gaydon.
