14 quick and cheap desserts you can make in a uni kitchen

This post is written by a member of the Debut Student Publisher Network. Read on for Char’s top speedy dessert picks – we apologise for any hunger pangs we cause.

Honestly, who has time to make dessert? After all, you’ve got deadlines to procrastinate and hangovers to get over. Most require an excessive amount of preparation and cook time, as if you’re in the Bake Off tent and not halls. We know, it’s tempting to resign yourself to spooning Nutella straight out of the jar for dessert.

Put. The Nutella. Away. There are loads of desserts you can easily make within the confines of your humble uni digs, and in minimal time so you can focus on what’s really important (such as binge-watching Stranger Things, ofc). No fancy mixers or waffle makers needed. Simplicity has never been so delicious.

1. Nutella Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats

Hold off on putting the Nutella away for a bit, actually. Is there a more amazing combination that Nutella and peanut butter? They can be the new power couple to replace Brangelina tbh.

2. 1 Minute Microwave Mug Brownie

An absolute classic I remember from my own uni days. Bonus: if you don’t wash your mug out after, you can have lovely chocolate flavoured coffee the next day. Win-win.
