Programme structure and tracks
BT runs two tracks: Software Engineering (a two-year rotation building toward a permanent engineering role, working on the platforms behind Broadband, TV and Mobile) and Transformation & Delivery (rotating through BT’s change and programme-delivery functions, open to any degree). You can only submit one application in total across both tracks.
Airbus runs a broader spread: the AGGP is a two-year programme with national rotations of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, plus optional (not guaranteed) international rotations of 3 or 6 months, across seven functional areas — engineering, digital technology, cyber security, supply chain, procurement, HR and finance. You join a global cohort of 40+ nationalities across 13 countries, with annual residential training at Airbus’s Leadership University.
Application process: how they actually differ
BT’s process, per its track pages and January 2026 candidate pack, runs in five steps: a roughly 20-minute online application (no CV or cover letter) → an untimed online assessment (five scenario-based text questions plus one recorded video question of up to 90 seconds) → a short recruiter screening call → a 3–4 hour on-site assessment event likely to include a group discussion and competency interview (plus a technical test for some roles) → a decision, which BT aims to give within two weeks. Airbus’s process is shorter, three stages: an online application (CV, correct spelling and grammar matter) → Arctic Shores, a game-based assessment of cognitive ability and personality fit (3 days to complete once you get the link) → a virtual assessment centre with group exercises and interviews. Airbus says it aims to make offers within a week of a successful assessment centre.

Locations
BT’s candidate pack lists Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, London, Belfast, Ipswich and Glasgow, and the roles shown on its site recently were in Belfast, London and Glasgow. Airbus does not publish a fixed UK site list for the graduate programme and says locations vary each year; its UK industry placement page describes sites such as Filton (Bristol) and Broughton, and 2027 listings on third-party boards included Bristol and Broughton roles (reported).
