For the amount of education we are required to have and yearly continuing education : No

For the emotional and physical energy we have to put into our workday: No

If you open your own practice or two you can make hundreds of thousands depending on how you run things. Running the business with only profits in mind will get you rich. Basically if you want to become an out patient physical therapist owning a private business your going to be the one who sets up a work environment for other PTs to help people directly while you indirectly manage the whole production. In greater NYC area a clinic owner usually needs his PTs to see 4 patients an hour. If your seeing that many patients an hour for years it gets very taxing . Especially when the owner makes way more money and doesn’t have to do any physical labor or deal with the headaches of keeping patients happy. However you do get all the glory if people start realizing your good. It’s an amazing field that way . We are at the point where our education and training is so deep we are better able to diagnose musculosketal and neuromuscular problems better than most primary care doctors and in some cases orthopedic doctors. people notice these thing and will show you appreciation . The type of appreciation you will never experience on daily bases in most professional careers. You learn to be a master of communication , emotion , movement, investigation/ questions, body mechanics , and most parts of body. People will rely on you over their medical doctors for advice in some cases. It’s extremely rewarding but you have to be a good PT to get the perks. You can be a half ass PT and make the same money as long as you are productive enough. Productive doesn’t mean you did a good job for the patient.

Starting full time DPTs will make 65–75k a year maybe more. Owners with 2 PTs working under them with a few receptionists and helps will make 150–300k depending on the demands the put in the staff. PTs in hospital and big rehab centers make around the same with more room to grow and better benefits
