What’s on Quora?
What is the average starting salary for data analysts in comparison to other IT jobs such as programming and web design?
Six months is enough for you to attain an entry level role if you’re willing to put in the time an effort. For many, it will take a little longer.
If you’re going to watch courses like they are movies and study 20 minutes a day then no way in hell. You aren’t going to make it in any IT role.
When I say study, I mean 3 hours a day, seven days a week. I mean writing the important shit down then studying it until you can make it past a phone screen.
If you think a data analyst is a machine learning engineer, then no, you won’t be working in any AI related role for at a minimum of 4–6 years. Sorry, just how it is.
I’ve had around ten students start from nothing, learn enough SQL and PowerBI and attain a data analyst role in under six months.
Companies need people to create reports and KPIs. If you can do that with PowerBi or Tableau then I promise you’ll get hired.
There are three keys here.
- SQL
- PowerBI
- CERTIFICATION (NOT a f#kin completion certificate, these are ALL WORTHLESS)
You want to ensure you get interviews. Add a cloud certification and a SQL certification to your resume. I’d suggest Azure and AWS on the cloud front. CERTIFICATIONS!!!!!!

To become a data analyst at Google, you need to have the basic requirements and a combination of education, skills, and experience.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics. The competitive pool is a lot shallower if you have an advanced degree. This position also may require an advanced degree.
- Strong skills in data analysis and database management, as well as proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python WILL be required. Becoming familiar with big data platforms is very important.
- High-profile employers like Google look for candidates with relevant experience in data analysis, including experience in data visualization and analysis. Not only will it be beneficial to have experience working with large data sets and have experience with cloud-based technologies, but without experience, your chances become slim to none. (You’re not getting the job)
- Data analysts are required to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, so excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. This is actually a common struggle in the field. Data Analysts have trouble communicating information (dumbing it down) so if you can demonstrate this skill set, any company would be happy to offer you the job.
- The ability to identify, analyze and solve complex business problems, often working with incomplete data sets, is critical for success in a data analyst role.
- As a data analyst, you are required to analyze large amounts of data and ensure that all findings and insights are accurate and reliable.
Google is an extremely competitive employer and having a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a track record of innovation and excellence in your work would increase your chances of being selected for a data analyst role at Google. Don’t set your standards to Google right from the start. Settling for less at the beginning of your career is the path almost everyone takes and if you have the ability to perform well, it will work out for you in the end.
I hope this was helpful.
