AtkinsRéalis Graduate Scheme 2027: How to Apply, Salary and Deadlines
Applications open: closing date 3 December 2026
The AtkinsRéalis Graduate Development Programme (still widely known as Atkins) is one of the biggest engineering and design graduate intakes in the UK. This guide covers the 2027 UK intake: which roles exist, what the official vacancy page says about pay, locations and eligibility, how to apply, and how to prepare. Facts below come from the employer’s own vacancy page unless marked reported.
AtkinsRéalis graduate scheme 2027: at a glance
Source: the official Systems Engineering Graduate Programme page (ref GR-243) and the UK graduates hub. The ranges above are the ones shown on that page; individual roles may differ, so check the advert you apply to.
Programmes and locations
Atkins recruits across engineering and professional services rather than one single scheme. The official Systems Engineering programme (GR-243) sits in the Defence, Nuclear and Transportation area, and Atkins says locations can close as applications come in, so pick an alternative if your first choice has gone. Third-party listings on Bright Network (reported) also show 2027 programmes in management consultancy, building surveying, digital and technology, data intelligence and asset management.

Who can apply
- Right to work: Atkins does not sponsor skilled worker visas on its early careers programme, so you need the right to work in the UK for the full length of the programme without sponsorship. Details are on its international students page.
- Security clearance: some roles may need clearance, and vetting by UK Security Vetting can ask for proof of five years or more of UK residency. Do not mention any current or past clearance in your application.
- Mindset the advert asks for: curiosity, collaborative working, motivation to gain professional accreditation where it applies, and comfort with agile working.
- Degree requirement: the vacancy page I read does not state a minimum degree classification, so confirm it on the specific role you pick.
How to apply
- Open the vacancy on the Atkins careers site and press Apply. You move to the vacancies platform.
- Filter by location and sector, choose one role and submit. You can only make one application per recruitment campaign, so choose carefully.
- Use the Early Careers TalentConnector platform to ask graduate mentors questions before you apply.
- Apply well before 3 December 2026: Atkins warns that popular roles can close sooner.
The vacancy page does not list the later stages. Atkins publishes a separate interview guidance page, which is the place to confirm what your stage involves. If your process includes a group task or presentation, our guides to the group exercise and the presentation exercise cover the usual formats, and our situational judgement test guide helps if you are given one.
How to prepare
Jessica, Graduate Environmental Consultant at AtkinsRéalis, in her own account of a secondment into a rail Alliance. One graduate’s view, not company policy.
That quote points to what the work is like: you join real projects with several organisations around the table. Practical preparation: read the sector page for the area you want (Atkins has dedicated pages for sectors such as defence), be ready to give examples of teamwork across disciplines, and decide your accreditation route (for example chartered status) before you interview, because the benefits package rewards reaching it.
