Amazon doesn’t run one fixed “graduate scheme” with a single closing date. It hires graduates through several routes, mainly Operations management roles and Software Development Engineer (SDE) roles, and recruits on a rolling basis. This guide covers the routes, who can apply, the application process, how to prepare and how Amazon compares with other employers. It’s part of our graduate scheme hub.
At the time of writing (12 October 2026) we found no dedicated UK 2027 graduate posting on amazon.jobs. Check the official pages linked below for live roles.

Operations graduate roles (Europe)
Amazon’s official Europe page says it is “hiring graduates and students to grow our teams in fulfillment centers across Europe.” Full-time roles listed there:
- Area Manager: coaches teams of associates and keeps safety, quality, customer service and productivity high.
- Shift Manager: manages a team, leads training and integration, and drives improvements and realistic targets.
- HR Partner: works on employee relations, benefits and compensation, leave, performance management and recruitment.
Source: Amazon Operations Europe. Area Manager Rebecca P. says the job let her “lead a team of up to 100 employees right after graduating.”
Pathways. Amazon’s operations page describes Pathways as “a three-year Operations program to develop leadership” that aims to turn graduates into managers and directors (source). That page is US-oriented, so confirm the programme is open in your country before planning around it.
Reported (third-party listings): UK graduate operations roles are advertised as 19–24 month programmes with starts between July and October, at sites such as Norwich, Leeds, Bristol and Tilbury. Treat this as indicative only and check the live job ad.
Software Development Engineer (SDE) roles
Amazon’s SDE university page sets out a four-step process (below). It says candidates are assessed on coding, programming languages, data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design. See Amazon SDE.
Reported (Gradcracker): internship listings are usually labelled by start year, e.g. “2027 Software Dev Engineer Intern.” Check whether a UK listing is open for your cohort.
Who can apply
Amazon’s university pages target final-year students and recent graduates. The exact degree and right-to-work requirements are set in each job ad, so read the “Basic qualifications” section of the role you want. Operations roles are not limited to one degree subject. For SDE roles, expect a computing or closely related technical background.
How to apply: step by step

- Find a role. Search the official Operations Europe or university pages, or join Amazon’s mailing list for university talent.
- Apply online with your CV on amazon.jobs.
- Online assessment. Amazon describes its assessments in a guide covering tips, formalities and what happens after. Read it before you start.
- Virtual interviews. Interviews run on Zoom or Amazon Chime, and your recruiter confirms which. For technical rounds Amazon suggests sharing a drawing tool, a whiteboard app such as Miro, or showing a drawing to the camera. Details: Amazon remote interview guide.
- Offer. For SDE roles Amazon says you hear back within five business days after your interview.
Note: Amazon’s own “Interviewing at Amazon” page is JavaScript-rendered and didn’t load for us, so we rely on the pages linked above.
How to prepare
Learn the Leadership Principles. Amazon lists 16 Leadership Principles, including Customer Obsession, Ownership, Invent and Simplify, Dive Deep, Bias for Action and Deliver Results. As Area Manager Ines B. puts it, “You can’t get around our Leadership Principles.” Prepare a specific example from study, work or society projects for each of the main ones.
Use STAR stories. For every example, state the Situation, Task, Action and Result, with numbers where possible. Keep your own contribution clear: say “I”, not “we”.
For SDE roles, practise data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design, and be ready to explain your solution aloud while sharing your screen.
Test your setup (camera, audio, internet, charged device) the day before a virtual interview, as Amazon advises.

Pay and benefits
Pay depends on role, site and start date, and is stated in each job ad. Amazon’s official benefits are described in its university programmes pages and in each posting. To see what a salary looks like after tax, use our UK Paycheck Calculator.
Amazon vs other graduate employers
Amazon recruits role by role all year, while banks and Big Four firms run fixed annual intakes with set deadlines. Amazon’s selection leans on Leadership Principles and, for tech roles, coding assessments. See our full comparison in Amazon vs Google Graduate Scheme 2026 and the Google Graduate Scheme guide.
