What’s on Quora?

What are the benefits of becoming a certified nursing assistant (CNA)? Does the position pay well and what is the average salary for an entry-level CNA in your area?

Top Answer

I would skip doing C.N.A. go into the vocational nurse program instead. Here in California C.N.A. make around $20 an hour. With the cost of living here, that’s a below poverty wage. You couldn’t live on that salary here. Vocational nurse only takes 1 year to complete program and pay is around $30 hourly. Also C.N.A. is hard work for the low pay. It takes a toll on you physically as you get older. They often have 20 or more patients in a nursing home to care for. That’s bathing them, dressing, changing diapers, checking vitals, feeding them, turning them. C.N.A’s are underpaid and deserve more.
