What’s on Quora?
How does the salary of a nurse practitioner compare to that of a physician? What factors determine the salary in each profession (nurse practitioner vs physician)?
Of course, the NP salary is lower.
“Factors” are different for each speciality. If working for a physician group, your salary guidelines are fairly clear, but different from those working for a hospital. In some cases, you & the physician work out the guidelines. And, your past experience matters a lot. A physician will hire an experienced nurse new to being an NP than he will someone who went straight thru school. Sorry, there is no one concrete answer. Do a lot a research on your own, ask a lot of questions. And, as with nursing salaries, NP salaries vary by the area of the country you are in, and if rural or city.
