What’s on Quora?

How much do civil engineers typically make?

Top Answer

Engineering is one such field where there’s no concept of “average” salary. Doctors start with a certain range of salary, CAs and lawyers start within some salary range but for engineers, the range is huge! For example, in computer engineering, people are starting their career with 3 LPA jobs also, some are starting with 40 LPA jobs too! It is, therefore, not easy to point out the average salary of computer engineers.

The same goes for other fields like civil engineering. Of course, no other stream of engineering is as lucrative as computer engineering when compared moneywise, other streams too have a good scope! According to Glassdoor, the national average monthly salary for civil engineers in India is Rs 25,000. This is, however, the starting salary when they join as freshers.
