How much does a US licensed practical nurse make per hour?

LPN wages can vary greatly. Wages will depend on what state you work in, what type of setting you work in, and years of experience. I currently live in New Hampshire and have 23 years experience in long term care and skilled nursing and I get $40 an hour base pay. I also get another $4 added to my base pay for working night shift. Usually places will pay a differential for 3 -11 and 11–7, and for all shifts on a weekend. If you work for an agency you will usually be paid more than if you were permanent staff at a facility.

As a retired LPN in Winnipeg, Manitoba . I graduated in 1987.., if you go full time to classes ,it took me 10 months.. it was very hard to carry every class full time! My suggestion is get credits first, then enroll! You will find it difficult, but with credits you only have nursing to do… It is hard if you waited 15 years like I did, and then I plunged in full time.. first 5 months I failed,my biology and had to stop until next term they offered biology again ( I aced it with a 96 mark as you had to maintain all marks over 80% to pass!) then in 1987 I graduated! The pay was excellent as my husband made good money! Unfortunately I had an untimely retirement at age 58:d/t a horrific heart attack, which put me out of nursing for good! There was no way for me to continue as heart attack did so much damage.. I miss being a nurse every day! For me, I had dreamt of beening a nurse for SO long.. I loved all the skills I was taught..
