Job Description
American Express is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to provide critical financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support the strategic decision-making process. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance, analyze key metrics, and ensure alignment with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
Duties and Work Process
- Develop and maintain complex financial models, forecasts, and budgets for various business units.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and present actionable insights to senior leaders.
- Partner with stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Operations, Product teams) to evaluate new investment opportunities and strategic initiatives.
- Consolidate and interpret large data sets, translating them into clear, concise reports for decision-making.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize profitability and cost efficiency.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes by preparing timely variance analyses and management reports.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure compliance with internal and external reporting standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that drive operational excellence within the finance function.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting tools (e.g., Excel, financial modeling software).
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and corporate finance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide data-driven recommendations and insights.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
Work Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or a related field.
- Proven track record of driving financial performance through well-structured analysis.
- Prior experience in the payments, banking, or technology sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or Finance) or a relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.
