Job Description
General Motors (GM) is seeking an Intern – Manufacturing Supply Chain to join our team and contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic plant environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in supply chain management, aligning with GM’s vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. This role is an onsite position, requiring the candidate to work full-time at one of GM’s designated plant locations.
Duties and Work Process
- Collaborate within a plant environment to optimize supply chain processes.
- Utilize innovation and creativity to overcome challenges and drive results.
- Prioritize and balance multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Perform standardized work, operate machinery, and conduct quality inspections.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with variable climate conditions (hot or cold).
- Engage in physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, lifting materials up to 40 lbs., and climbing ladders.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex subjects for diverse audiences.
- Leadership experience through academics, extracurricular activities, or service organizations.
- Knowledge of materials management, procurement software, and logistics.
- Familiarity with interpreting market data and basic engineering documents.
- Emerging teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Evidence of integrity, accountability, and trustworthiness.
Work Experience Requirements
- Prior internship experience in supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Exposure to commodities such as metals, plastics, and electronics is a plus.
- Experience with packaging or interpreting blueprints is advantageous.
Education Requirements
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- Graduation anticipated between December 2025 and May 2028.
