Job Description
As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management. You will initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment. This opportunity will allow you to build working knowledge of inventory management principles, warranty process management, data bearing device destruction, and advance your career in the process.
Duties and Work Process
- You will comply with security and data management policies, escalating any incidents and coordinating with security escorts as necessary. You’ll also escalate issues during high volumes of work activity, seeking out management guidance before moving on to the next step.
- You will document inbound and outbound packages, as well as execute incoming/outgoing deliveries as instructed by management. You’ll also develop a working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices, and help reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- You will maintain a strong customer focus by becoming familiar with Microsoft’s contractual agreements with suppliers and by identifying any potential impacts on stakeholders. You’ll also ensure Inventory and Asset Management tasks are completed accurately as requested.
- You will process failed vendor hardware devices and initiate warranty claims with suppliers, following all Service Level Agreements. You’ll also destroy data-bearing devices as necessary.
- You will notify management about stock shortages. Throughout work, you’ll also follow existing processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications
- 1+ years’ experience in warehouse/supply chain in an information technology (IT) environment, IT, and/or logistics, operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation
- OR equivalent experience.
Work Experience Requirements
- 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field
- OR equivalent experience.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma
