How much do software engineers make now?
Your question intrigued me, because I had software engineering colleagues in the UK, so I dug into it. The U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says $115K is the Median Total Pay for Software Developers in the USA. Glassdoor.com.uk says the average salary for Software Developer is £43,262 per year in the United Kingdom, and the average additional cash compensation for a Software Developer in the United Kingdom is £3,034, making a total of £46,296, which at today’s exchange rate would be $58689. Of course, for an apples-to-apples comparison you’d need to normalize these salaries by the cost of living in each country. If you are comparing two job offers, you ought to compare the (salary/ cost-of-living) of the two cities where the jobs are, which would be easy for any software developer. I used to get job offers from San Jose, CA, of twice my salary in Northern Virginia, but the cost of living in San Jose was more than twice the cost of living in Northern Virginia. I eventually accepted a mere 20% raise offered by a job in North Carolina, where I could afford a much nicer home than I could afford in either Northern Virginia or San Jose, California.

Basically you can divide the salary range in four catagories for software engineer in USA….
1.Entry level range-$65k-$100k
2.having experience above 2–3 yrs→$100k -$180k
3.Having experience above 5–6 yrs→$180k -$240k
4.Having experience above 5–6 yrs but you are working in FAANG or having good profile and experience→$240k-$400k((in some startups too).
Exception is everywhere…So in some exception it can be go above $400k too…
In some cases above data can be up and down.I have mentioned the general range…
you can convert dollar to indian rupees for better clarification…
$1=81 rs. approx.
So it can be start from 3-4 lakh to 15 lakh per month based on your salary range.
Expense:
Here the tax is around 20–30% which will be deducted from your salary .
In USA room rent is very high. Some people prefer to live in 1 bhk($1000-$2500 rent) ,so they can save more money ,while other people can prefer for 2bhk($2500-$4000 or above) or 3 bhk($4000 to above) for comfort space.
total monthly expense of fooding($500-$1200),utilities and electricity($500),internet and other ($500)…so total other expense would be around $2000-$2500 except house rent and car expense.
SAVING:
If you are talking about savings in indian rupees, It varies person to person…
you can generally save from $2500 -$12000 or above in USD.
In indian currency, people can save here from 2.5 lakh to 12 lakh monthly and you can say 25 lakh to 1.5 crore or above yearly depends on their salary range and living standards.
If you and your spouse ,both are working here, you can easily save a good amount…one person’s salary can be totally saved.
Other amount:
other than your salary,
some company provide ESPP(employee stock purchage plan) which gives some amount of extra money profit if you sell it at good time.
some company contribute 3% or 4% or 6% to 401k plan of employee, which also gives some extra kind of money.
Note:
Money is not everything. But if you are satisfied with your job, your work life balance, enjoying your live, then it is more valuable.
So do work hard but enjoy your life too…….
