I began using Debut properly (or rather it began informing me of talent spots) towards the end of June 2016 just ahead of the summer break.
Debut introduced me to a variety of events including the Cisco event at Debut, a L’Oréal Event at their offices in Hammersmith and ultimately made me aware of a ‘Hackathon’ with Deutsche Bank. This particular opportunity stood out to me as someone with a passion for technology!
I then applied to the ‘Hackathon’ in late October and was successful in becoming one of the very few external undergraduate students to join a team of Deutsche Bank employees as part of the 24hr Autistica Hackathon held in early November.
The ‘Hackathon’ as enduring as it was (given the lack of sleep!), formed a great opportunity to develop my technical skills and showcased to the team my ability to intergrate quickly and effectively into a group. As the member of the team pitching and demonstrate our idea back to the judges it helped advance my presentation and communication skills as well!
Our idea was judged by a panel and we were awarded the ‘Best Application Overall’! What a result! This was amazing, and further promoted me to apply to the summer internship at Deutsche Bank (an opportunity which I was already keen to pursue) Given the skills I showcased at the ‘Hackathon’ and my experience to date I was invited to a round of interviews at Deutsche Bank during late November.
Following the interview process I was offered the role as an intern to start in June 2017 for the summer! It’s been a super quick process from receiving the ‘Talent Spot’ back in October to a month later being offered an internship at Europe’s largest investment bank! Debut helped me in the process by making me aware of the opportunities to apply for the ‘Hackathon’. Without that I wouldn’t have been able to develop and highlight the skills Deutsche Bank looks for in its’ graduates!
