Transmission (Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen)
Consents & Environment Graduates (Terrestrial and Marine)
We are building a high voltage Network for NetZero across Scotland to facilitate critical renewable energy connections to the Electricity Grid. Not only that, we have developed a sector leading sustainability strategy to help us deliver it in a responsible way. Our Consents & Environment team are central to this, currently assessing and consenting the largest portfolio of national critical infrastructure in Scotland. Distribution (Perth, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen)
Working to secure, maintain and manage strategic land and property rights across a portfolio of projects for our electricity distribution network in order to support a net carbon zero future.
With the rapid acceleration of renewable and distributed energy solutions, millions of new electric vehicles on our roads and a revolution in the way we heat our homes, were at the leading edge of this change, building a strong foundation to meet new demands and make a net zero world a reality for our customers and communities.
Were investing in our infrastructure assets which are spread far and wide across our licensed area in the North of Scotland & Islands, to accelerate progress towards a net zero world whilst ensuring a safe, resilient, and responsive network.
In this role youll be responsible for securing consents for the construction, installation, refurbishment and replacement of underground cables, overhead lines and plant on both public and privately-owned land.
Well equip you with skills training and the professional competency you need to become a Land Consents Manager. Well enhance your knowledge and experience by giving you the opportunity to work within different departments within SSEN.
We also have a vacancy for a Trainee Chartered Surveyor, well support you to gain your Chartered Surveyor qualification. For this role youll ideally have a minimum 2:2 degree in surveying, geography, agriculture, law, Rural Enterprise & Land Management.
Renewables (Glasgow or Dublin)
Our development and consents teams work on the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects through all stages of the development and consenting process both in the UK and Ireland and internationally. This includes roles on our growing pipeline of onshore wind, offshore wind, solar and hydro projects. You will have the opportunity to gain experience working in a multi-disciplinary project team on a wide range of consenting issues, to challenge yourself through dealing first hand with the complexities of consenting these large-scale projects and also play an important role in delivering renewable energy targets in the drive for a net zero carbon future.
What do I need to join?
Youll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 degree in either an Agricultural, Earth/Natural Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Management (with a Marine focus), Environmental Science, Geography, Land Management, Law, Marine Science, Rural Enterprise or Town Planning.
Wed love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for the role, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. Youll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
You should have an interest in the energy sector and show alignment with SSEs core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us - as we are with you.
All roles are likely to involve some travel to other sites to gain practical exposure to a wide range of business areas, therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.
