Looking for a great start to your career in technology, earning and learning on a professionally accredited, award-winning scheme?
We are looking to recruit the manufacturing experts of the future on our nationally recognised, award-winning Apprenticeship Programme.
You will be working within world class facilities regardless of which site you are based. There may also be opportunities to travel between the Companys UK sites to meet with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
What you will do
Leonardos four-year Manufacturing Apprenticeship provides a wealth of learning and development opportunities including working towards achievement of an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Diploma Level 3.
You will undertake a series of six-month rotational placements - covering Mechanical Assembly, Electromechanical Assembly, Electro Optic Assembly and product testing. During this time you will also be attending college on day release to gain vocational qualifications. You will be expected to keep up to date with college requirements.
The apprenticeship will also involve daily meetings on schedule adherence, load boards and visual Key Performance Indicators, with an emphasis on you organising your own workload to ensure time is utilised effectively. Later in the apprenticeship, you will provide coaching and guidance to junior team members and/or apprentices.
You will learn how to build industry leading electronic countermeasure systems, and how to test these systems under multiple environmental stresses. You will learn how we manage the flow of material through our supply chain, our planning and Logistics processes and how we control that material during the product build cycle.
Throughout the programme you will receive coaching and support from your team to achieve your objectives as well as your personal development goals. You will gain a wide array of experience on your placement that you can apply to your academic studies and future career.
Years 1 and 2:
You will conduct rotational placements where you will gather real work evidence such as written logs describing day-to-day tasks completed and highlighting the key manufacturing competencies you have demonstrated. You will compile a folder of evidence, demonstrating your development into a well-rounded technician through on-the-job training and gaining the essential practical skills to succeed. During this time you will also be attending college on day release to gain the academic qualifications required by the Apprenticeship framework.
Year 3 & 4:
Having gained broad experience across Leonardo, you will undertake a final placement, with on-the-job training being more focused on a particular discipline.
At Leonardo we value individuals who continuously demonstrate a dedication to their personal development.
Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as SC) for our business.
