The Communications Assistant will work to the Communications Partner at Chwarae Teg to support the planning and delivery of all communications activity. Initially this will focus on the organisation of the Chwarae Teg Womenspire Awards 2021, which will take place on Thursday 30 September.

During this time the Communications Assistant will be required to work across other initiatives, programmes, projects and events run by Chwarae Teg in order to raise awareness of the organisations work and attract support from women and businesses to promote gender equality, career advancement and improve the position of women in the workforce.

As a gender equality charity, Chwarae Teg run the Womenspire Awards annually to recognise and highlight the achievements of the nations most inspirational women. Now in their sixth year, the awards will take place online - streaming across ITVs Facebook Live and Twitter. Key responsibilities will be

Work with the Communications Partner to ensure actions and timescales set out in the Womenspire Awards delivery plan, and other communications plans, are met.

Maintain effective communications while supporting colleagues, partners, suppliers and sponsors - including being part of online meetings.

Develop relationships with Chwarae Teg colleagues and clients to effectively promote the organisations work

Monitor press coverage and provide support to the Communications Partner on preparing reports on coverage

Provide administrative and logistical support, e.g. emailing, making calls and scheduling meetings

Research and prepare draft press releases, articles and other copy as required, with support from the Communications Partner

Other duties as required by the business

SKILLS NEEDED

All Chwarae Teg staff are expected to commit to and exhibit values, attitudes and behaviours that contribute positively to our vision and mission and the values set out in the organisational Values.

To carry out this role effectively, it is essential that the post holder

Has experience of assisting the coordination, or delivery, of a successful event, programme or initiative (this can be a work, school, volunteering or social/community project)

Has created new relationships that have led to positive results

Has experience of writing engaging and effective communications over various channels (Social media, email, print etc)

Has excellent interpersonal skills and can represent Chwarae Teg in a credible and professional manner.

Has proven organisational, planning and time management skills

Is flexible, confident, and a personable team player

Is confident in using a variety of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Is passionate about and actively supports Chwarae Tegs vision and mission

It would also be desirable for the post holder to:

Have experience of writing engaging copy for an external publication or audience

Speak and write Welsh.

Safety

All roles within Chwarae Teg are home-based and supported by the provision of a company laptop and mobile phone to be used for work purposes. Our work is currently being undertaken with covid-19 safety measures in place, therefore, we expect this role to predominantly be carried out via video conferencing and other virtual communication methods at this time. Chwarae Teg will continue to monitor the situation and assess impact on our service delivery accordingly.
