Your responsibilities as an Information Communications Technician Apprentice:

  • Providing technical support; answering support queries either via phone or email
  • Maintaining a high degree of customer service for all support queries
  • Taking ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Logging all calls on the call logging system and maintain full documentation
  • Responding to enquiries from clients and help them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Maintaining a log of any software or hardware problems detected
  • Supporting users in the use of Telephony equipment by providing necessary training and advice
  • Allocating more complex service issues to the relevant Technical Engineer
  • Arranging for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in house

  • Relevant 1st line / Helpdesk support experience
  • Telephony experience would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Excellent telephone manner and face to face communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with using Outlook within a network environment (permissions, calendar sharing, and delegation)

Personal qualities

  • Ability to work with a range of internal and external people
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations

Desired qualifications

  • Grades A*-C (9-4 equivalent) in English and mathematics
  • A science or technology qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Or a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship
