The CS3 line of business operates across all of the main UK sites, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required, whether thats helicopters supporting the Covid-19 relief effort or fast jets protecting UK air space. What you will do

As a systems industrial placement student within CS3 Digital, you will be part of a team producing data driven applications to improve our current business, and also create new opportunities for our customers in the UK and around the world. You will have the chance to work directly with these customers and our end users, getting the opportunity to understand some of their challenges first-hand.

Your role might include the use of data science, mathematical analysis and modelling, to provide decision support for our service delivery teams. You could develop software applications that make a real difference to support engineers in the field. You might also look at how technology can be applied to provide new types of training service that can be accessed globally by customers.

The role is likely to include travel, both within the UK and possibly also abroad, to provide in-person support to our customers.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Using technical expertise to solve problems, generate ideas and be pro-active within the team.
  • Developing and applying your academic knowledge to undertake various activities across the engineering lifecycle, delivering to agreed performance targets, including cost and schedule.
  • Developing practical skills in engineering design and development for complex solutions, understanding key processes and technologies.
  • Working closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to solve problems.
  • Completing tasks to a high standard and in accordance with appropriate processes and procedures.
  • Taking an active role in engineering process improvement

What we are looking for

Mandatory

Nationality and Security Clearance

Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as SC) for our business.

Qualifications

All of our Industrial Placement roles require a minimum of a predicted 2:1 grade in a relevant degree discipline. For technical roles please note that our preferred degree disciplines include Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM subject degrees.

Highly Desirable

  • Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and an ability to drive difficult issues to conclusion
  • Able to work with minimum direction or supervision on complex tasks
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with subject matter experts regarding a range of technical and operational topics
  • Confidence and ability to challenge and respond to technical or process issues.
