Outline

The successful candidate will join a small team of application engineers who develop and support our Prodigy, PAMS, and PlantRun systems. The team is based at our Billingham offices and it is expected that the new employee will spend most of their time there. However, from time to time there will be a requirement to visit a customers site, for example, to discuss customer requirements or to commission a new system.

Customer support is a key aspect of our business and, therefore, the successful candidate must be able to switch instantly between working on the development of a new system, and addressing an issue on a customers live system.

The vacancy is for a full time permanent employee working 38 hours per week.

We are looking for a newly qualified graduate in computer science or an engineering subject with a software element.

Tascomp has been providing software and systems for industrial automation for over 40 years. We make use of our own SCADA package, Prodigy which is under constant development and is used as the basis for our PlantRun and PAMS packages.

Our software is in use in numerous organisations throughout the world, and is used for applications as diverse as:

  • Controlling rigs to test aircraft parts
  • Tracking production through saw mills
  • Alarm management in air traffic control towers
  • Control of pharmaceutical drug production.

Qualifications / Skills

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Qualified to degree level with at least a 2-1 in a computer science or an engineering subject with a software element
  • Practical and logical problem solver
  • Be self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision
  • The ability to work in a multi-skilled team
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
