  • In this role you will be supporting manufacturing process lines and new product introduction teams.
  • You will perform a range of technical and practical tasks required to deliver effective manufacturing capabilities to meet the business requirements.
  • You will learn to use existing manufacturing processes and equipment, and will be required to become expert in some aspects of these to be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to the manufacturing team and new product introduction teams.
  • You will develop a thorough knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques and how to apply them.
  • You will research, identify and implement improvements to the manufacturing processes and systems in use at our Luton site.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Delivering packages of work to time, cost and quality.
  • Working within a team to achieve targets for Unit Production Cost (UPC), Defects per Unit (DPU), and cycle time.
  • Completing tasks assigned by project teams within agreed schedules.
  • Communicating with team members to share knowledge.
  • To continuously develop engineering skills and knowledge to improve personal capability to contribute to the needs of the Industrial Engineering team.
  • Work with Apprentices to support their training and development.

What we are looking for

Mandatory

Nationality and security clearance

Please note that in order to apply for this opportunity you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Normally this is to the level of Security Check (typically known as SC) for our business but may need to be to a higher level for this particular role due to the nature of the projects and or programmes that the role will be supporting.

Qualifications

All of our roles require (a) a minimum of an upper Second class Bachelors/Integrated Masters degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MEng, MSc or PhD. In all cases the subject should be engineering and manufacturing.

Highly desirable

  • Good academic understanding in a technically relevant field
  • Good communication skills are essential, both written and verbal.
  • Practical ability to solve technical problems.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use the MS Office suite of tools.
  • Aptitude and continuing interest in engineering and/or science
  • Practically minded with hands on experience
