An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ice Cream Technologist to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum, to be based at Colworth Science Park in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, MK44 (just a 40-minute drive from Milton Keynes). This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 3 months, working a 36.25-hour week, paying up to 35,100 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
The job holder will be a member of the Ice Cream Product & Process Science team within F&R Science & Technology. The team is concerned with developing technologies which improve the sensory properties, physical properties, stability and sustainability of ice cream and its associated components. The focus of the work undertaken is the micro-structural analysis of our ice cream products and how this can be manipulated and controlled to give the desired product properties.
The role will involve the preparation and analysis of ice cream samples using new ingredients to improve the environmental impact of our products and processes. Sensory and analytical analysis will drive the work to decisions using an agile methodology.
Good lab practise in preparing ice-cream samples varying food processing techniques.
Analysis of samples using confocal microscopy, light scattering and analytical techniques like DSC and rheology
Good communication and team working skills are essential.
Data analysis and processing.
In-depth interpretation and communication of the samples and results to provide relevant insights to our project teams.
Develop a detailed understanding of the techniques and instruments used to troubleshoot and maintain instruments on a daily basis.
Planning own time in order to meet objectives and maximize efficiency.
Recording experimental objectives, methods, results and conclusions accurately in the ELN system.
Contributing to team development, meetings and discussions.
Degree in chemistry, physics, food science or related science. Recent graduates will be considered.
Competent in producing samples in a lab environment.
Experience in data analysis and management.
A self-starter and with strong pro activity and bias for action.

The ability to learn quickly on the job.

Good technical communication skills
