There may also be opportunity to experience additional rotations such as Facilities, Finance and Programmes.

In addition to technical development, we are also committed to supporting your broader personal development. Throughout your time on the course, you will be given the opportunity to participate in projects and training outside of your apprenticeships with the aim of enhancing both your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.

You will be supported by your line manager, plus placement managers, mentors, and the wider apprentice network, to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your course and getting the most out of your apprenticeship.

Role Summary

As a Higher Business Apprentice (HBA) you will be based within our 600+-person Supply Chain. Throughout your 4-year apprenticeship, you will be supported through, and study, a Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, which is delivered in partnership with Coventry University.

Overview of the scheme

Year 1

You will focus initially on integrating into the business and understanding how GE, and a busy supply chain, works before you being you enrol with university. You will typically complete 3 modules during your first year, will complete your first two rotations, and will start to build a network across these teams.

Year 2

In year 2 your responsibilities will begin to increase as you start to lead small projects and are able to use your initiative more to support the business. You still start to expand your stakeholder, problem solving and communication skills. Your university studies will continue and you will start to think about your CMI portfolio.

Year 3

Now you start really start to put your learnings into practice. You will complete your final 6-month rotations and will be more autonomous in your role. Project work may extend beyond your placement to stretch you and enable you to develop your skills in different environments. Youll start to use your knowledge and experience to execute business objectives and to support key deliverables. Your studies start to focus more on CMI mapping to ensure you are achieving, and evidencing, the right skills and experiences to complete your degree.

Year 4

In your final year, you will be a more integrated member of the team as you complete your final, 12 month, placement. This aims to prepare you for your future with GE. You will focus on delivering a work-based project that supports your academic study too. You will be expected to take on further responsibilities within your department, and to also support younger apprentices. You will begin to think about your future career with GE and the area you hope to obtain a permanent role in at the end of your apprenticeship.

Candidate profile

To be enrolled on the apprenticeship, candidates must have achieved:

  • 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English, at grades C / 4 or above
  • Have achieved, or be predicted, 3 A-Levels (or equivalent) at grades C or above.

In addition, candidates should also be:

Your supporting statement should be no more than 500 words (approx..1 side of A4) and

Stage 2 - Video Interview

If you are successful at stage 1, you will be invited to complete a video interview. Instructions will be sent to you via the email you used to submit your application. Video interviews must be submitted by Tuesday 25th January.

Stage 3 - On site assessment centre

A mandatory on-site assessment centre must be attended to progress your application.

Candidates will be invited to attend one of two dates: Thursday 17 th February 2022 or Tuesday 15 th March 2022.
