In year 1 you will start your study with Gloucestershire College, focusing on your national certificate qualification. You will also start your onsite placement, putting your college skills into practice. Youll begin to work on foundational tasks, establishing working relationships and meeting your team.

Year 2

You will continue to attend college, working on your national certificate; you will also begin to prepare for your NVQ. You will start to become more autonomous in your role and start to be given greater responsibilities. Support of your personal development will also be ongoing, with focus on soft skills beyond the academic at the forefront.

Year 3

You will be on site full-time from Year 3, and will complete your NVQ qualification and portfolio, which you will create with the support of the business and college. You will also be a more integrated member of the team and will be expected to take on further responsibilities within your department. You will also support and mentor younger apprentices. You will begin to think about your future career with GE and the area you hope to obtain a permanent role in at the end of your apprenticeship. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have achieved a Level 3 Apprenticeship and hold a NVQ in Engineering Maintenance (electronic), plus a national certificate in electronics.

As an Advance Manufacturing Apprentice (AMA) you will be based within our Supply Chain, of over 600 people. Throughout your 3-year apprenticeship, you will study a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Engineering Technician Technical Support - Electrical.

During your first 2-years, you will be split your time between academic study with Gloucestershire College and on-site placement. You will be allocated to a specific business area for the duration of your placement but will rotate around all the teams within this production area. Placements typically last for 6 months. In addition to technical development, we are also committed to supporting your broader personal development. Throughout your time on the course, you will be given the opportunity to participate in projects and training outside of your apprenticeships with the aim of enhancing both your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. You will be supported by your line manager, plus placement managers, mentors, and the wider apprentice network, to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your course and getting the most out of your apprenticeship.

In addition to demonstrating that you have achieved, or are predicted, 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades C/4 or above, the successful candidate will also be:
