What will the apprentice be doing?

This is a 4-year programme. During the first two years of the apprenticeship you will develop skills in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting, the next two years will allow you to develop advanced diagnostic skills and repair techniques.

Undertake a detailed inspection of the generation system

Carry out standard diagnosis tests on the generation system components

Produce a comprehensive list of parts and materials required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

All training will be provided by Finning's in-house speclialised Apprenticeship Training Team at one of our workshops working towards an Advanced Level Apprenticeship Level 3 (A level). Further information about the training involved:

- Block release & minimum one day per week study time

- Access to online resources

- Remote delivery

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will train to become a Finning service engineer. Our engineers are skilled practical personnel who repair and maintain Caterpillar equipment. Our qualified service engineers can be workshop or site based.

The standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.
