Project Key Accountabilities

As an Electrical Engineering Apprentice you will be assisting engineers with the design and supervision of electrical services installations for buildings.

You will be working on real live projects and will receive support and development from line managers, mentors and the team. As you gain more knowledge and experience, you will work on more complex tasks and be given more responsibility.

Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by your line manager:

  • Assist with the preparation of concept, spatial coordination, and technical design stage information.
  • Assist with design calculations for assessing the electrical loads of buildings, sizing utility connections, generators, uninterruptable power supplies, photovoltaics together with associated earthing and distribution systems, using a variety of software including: Stabicad Electrical, Etap and Excel.
  • Developing skills using Revit, construct and modify 3D MEP models.
  • Coordinating your design activities with the internal team to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Providing the internal project team with regular updates on progress.
  • Responsible for adhering to company health and safety, Integrated Management System (IMS) and client standards and procedures.
  • Discuss and research solutions to project concerns and recommend solutions to design problems.
  • Deliver quality.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Pursuit of MEng or BEng in Electrical or Building Services Engineering including a power systems module from an accredited university with a classification of 2:1 (60%) or higher.
  • Prior summer or industrial placement at an MEP consultancy or can demonstrate an interest in the built environment and the application of first principles engineering techniques to inform the design process preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
  • Basic knowledge and experience in use of CAD systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphical communication skills with the ability to convey messages to team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to delegate.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and budget.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the UK, without restrictions or need for work sponsorship.
