Reporting to the Senior Athletic Director for External Operations, the Director of Creative Design & Brand Strategy will support the Holy Cross Athletics by leading the creative digital and print content strategy, planning, and posting on the Athletics main accounts. The position will collaborate with the departments external units to coordinate all strategy, production, and execution of Holy Cross Athletics social media content. This person will also work with and support revenue generation and data analysis to promote the mission and goals of the athletics department.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist content team to produce timely, comprehensive and engaging content to be distributed across all Holy Cross Athletics platforms (Social, mobile, Patriot League Network, website, and traditional platforms)
  • Collaborate on all content strategy, digital advertising elements, digital ad campaigns, social marketing, and data acquisition.
  • Oversee the conceptualizing, design and production of creative content for athletic programs.
  • Assist athletic communications department with editing, developing, creating and implementing social media campaigns throughout the year.
  • Capture and produce photo, design, and video to support creative content plans, with a primary objective of keeping Holy Cross on the cutting edge of collegiate content creation and fan engagement.
  • Coordinate, design, implement and execute photo shoots for all student-athletes.
  • Manage all athletics creative assets.
  • Work with outside graphic and print vendors when necessary.
  • Recruit, train and oversee creative/ graphic design staff/interns.
  • Help develop, implement and manage the athletic departments digital brand, ensuring all digital elements have a consistent look and feel, from visual imagery to content tone and cadence.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators for social media, analyze and communicate KPI results on a regular basis to the external communications team, and build strategies to improve on KPIs over time.
  • Direct the trademark & Licensing program for Holy Cross Athletics, including approving artwork, creating merchandising opportunities and generating revenue via royalties while promoting the Holy Cross brand in the retail marketplace.
  • Collaborate with the entire external team to leverage content resources to achieve department goals.
  • Bachelors required; 4-5 years of experience in graphic design, content and/or digital media (previous internship applicable). Some experience in a professional or intercollegiate athletic environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Proven strategic planning experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge of editing content and materials for consistency and brand appropriateness
  • Ability to take complex ideas and present them in a manner that is easy to consume and share.
  • Experience managing a small team and working cross-functionally to achieve department goals.
  • Strong technical skills, and ability to leverage emerging media.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects effectively with tight deadlines.
  • Strong quantitative analytical ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Applicants must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite & social media platforms required
  • Proficiency in HTML, HTML 5, and CSS a plus.
