We are looking for someone to support our bakery team, and help us deal with the admin side of our cake shop.

  • This role offers the opportunity to learn how to deal with customers face to face, replying in a professional format to online messaging, listening to voicemails and on the phone enquiries, giving the candidate an all-round experience
  • Serving customers in the shop and ensuring they have a great experience
  • Replying to emails, social media enquiries and text messages in coherent English
  • Baking and decorating cupcakes and traybakes to a high standard (training will be given)
  • Following opening and closing down procedures daily
  • Keeping the shop clean and tidy at all times, washing up, mopping floors and filling in hygiene paperwork
  • Decorating the windows and making pretty displays in the shop
  • There will also be the chance in the future to work in the shop helping us bake and decorate the cupcakes, as well as support our bakery staff with the every day running of the shop

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Ideally the right person would have some experience in baking cakes, even if it is just at home
  • You should also be organised and willing to use your own initiative, and be happy to work on your own as well as with others
  • Be familiar with using computer programs, and be able to quickly learn our new systems
  • Be able to write fluently in English using correct punctuation and grammar
  • A fun bubbly personality which is reflected in the way they talk to customers - the right person would have a passion for making people happy and providing the best customer service possible
  • Skills in being creative, having an eye for detail and using social media are also essential

Personal qualities

  • English and Maths GCSE grade 4/C or above
  • Equivalent to those requested may also be acceptable
  • Ideally some experience doing a creative subject such as Art, Product Design or Photography

Future prospects

  • Full time employment may be an option depending on successful completion of the apprenticeship

  • Must be 18 or over for insurance purposes to use the equipment
  • No facial piercings, no fake nails (due to hygiene)

  • You will need to have a pre-screen chat with New College Swindon to discuss your experience and the apprenticeship in more detail

About the employer

GlamoRose Cakes is a cupcake company based in Swindon - we bake cupcakes, traybakes and birthday cakes. We have three shops: Old Town, Cirencester, and Chippenham, and have spent the past year updating our website, so now our customers are able to order online for local collection, and also for nationwide delivery. As our customer base has grown so much, we are looking for someone to help us with the of the customer service side of the company. We have so many wonderful customers now, and we want someone to come in and give them the best service possible!

On the job training will be delivered by the Employer and the Apprenticeship delivery will be by New College Swindon and will consist of the following elements:
