The Construction Project Engineer is primarily responsible for working with the Operations Team on all aspects of construction and on a given project in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for coordinating surveys and layouts, supervising testing, reviewing and commenting on daily reports, subcontract supervision and scheduling
  • Scheduling daily operations and resources (ie. labor, equipment, materials and trucking)
  • Communicating daily with Superintendents, Foreman of various crews.
  • Assist with tracking of accurate daily quantities
  • Reviewing cost analysis, job cost reports, contract documentation (photos, letters, emails, etc.) and production reports
  • Reviewing purchase orders, delivery tickets, and ensuring transmittal to accounting
  • Experience working with planning departments and submitting development projects to municipal governments
  • Experience with AUTOCAD software in roadway design/plans production

Daily tasks may also include the following:

  • Analysis and design of various roadway projects
  • Gathering information to make studies, perform calculations, prepare CADD drawings, and coordinate design criteria.
  • Producing plans, quantity/cost estimates, specifications, and reports
  • Coordination with team members and clients, including the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Construction Management discipline or 3 or more years of performing job functions corresponding to this position required
  • Experience in highway construction or similar industry (internships count)
  • Valid driver's license and transportation
  • Thorough knowledge of construction materials, costs and procedures in heavy construction
  • High aptitude for mathematics
  • High proficiency in computers- including the Microsoft Office Suite (experience with Estimating Software and Primavera P6 are a plus)
  • Candidate must be well organized and possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to track job performance
  • Assertiveness, self-confidence and strong communication skills for interacting with project owners and subcontractors
  • Solid understanding of contract documents and be able to apply to actual construction
  • General knowledge of applicable construction operations
  • Experience reading construction specifications and/or plans
  • Additional safety or environmental training a plus
  • Willingness to work weekends and long hours during peak
  • Ensure a safe work environment by overseeing compliance with all safety policies
  • Ability to adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition while on job site
