The restaurant holds 1* Rosette and Head Chef Ray Moody selects only the finest locally sourced ingredients and prepares everything in-house to produce exquisite A La Carte food.
Santos Higham Farm Hotel for are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident applicants to join their team as a Front of House Hospitality Team Members. You will join a close-knit team, working as a team to serve up great food and drinks in a fun, friendly atmosphere. The successful candidates will be working towards gaining a Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Standard.
There will be an opportunity to have insight into events, weddings, and private dining functions which are held at Santos Higham Farm Hotel
You will be working under supervision and day to day tasks will include the following:
Greet and escort customers to their tables
Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
Inform customers about the days specials
Offer menu recommendations upon request
Up-sell additional products when appropriate
Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software, order slips or by memorization
Check customers IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
Serve food and drink orders
Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning
Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
Follow all relevant health department regulations
Provide excellent customer service to guests
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship. Your qualification will be delivered by Babcock Training who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Regional Trainer giving one to one training on a 4-6 weekly basis and guide you through your Apprenticeship.
- Proactive approach to work and able to work on their own initiative as well as in a team
- Confident in dealing with members of the public
- Experience of taking orders is an advantage but not essential

Things to consider
You must ensure you have suitable travel arrangements in place to get to the place of work in a timely manner. Due to working unsociable hours, you need to be able to ensure you can get home at the end of your shift. This vacancy may close before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found. All published dates can therefore be flexible and will be dependent on suitable candidates coming forward and registering appropriate interest.
