This exciting opportunity offers the chance to be trained internally and externally in all aspects of project managing painting and decorating contracts, including customer liaison, surveying, estimating, cost control and managing projects from initial enquiry through to completion and final account agreement.

Your Development

You will be given support by a mentor to help you to develop. Youll be given the opportunity to train and get further qualifications, alongside practical experience, dealing with the hands on running of projects in a busy contracting office.

As you progress through your first few years in your career with Bagnalls you will have the opportunity to manage your own jobs and be responsible for developing your own customer base. If you are successful in the role, we will encourage you to progress further within our business.

As part of the three-year internal Management Trainee process you will be assessed every 6 months to highlight your strengths and areas for improvement.

You will also complete a relevant Construction Management course at a local College for the first year.

The role of Trainee Manager would suit you if you are looking to build a long-term career within the construction industry.

We will provide full support and training to allow you to build on your previous skills and experience. More important than your academic qualifications will be your commitment to succeed, an ability to put the needs of the customer first and a positive approach to continuous learning. We do ask that you have the following skills and qualifications:

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • A commitment to developing a career within the construction industry
  • A passion for delivering the highest quality customer service
  • Emotional and intellectual ability to respond to customers needs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good spatial and numerical ability
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to show initiative and to work independently
  • Ability to learn about all aspects of the business quickly

Desirable Criteria:

  • Some construction-related experience or training
  • Higher level qualifications and/or construction qualifications
  • Full driving licence or working towards one (Please note that you will need to obtain a full driving licence during your time on the training scheme).

Reward Package

The initial salary will reflect the fact that this is a trainee post with a high level of support and input needed for your development. You will have the prospect of higher salary, performance related bonus and company car as you progress within the team. The exact salary will depend on qualifications already obtained and relevant previous experience.

This role would be suitable for a A-level School Leaver, or someone within the Painting and Decorating industry who wants to take a step into a management position.
